People who achieve high results in this test are able to actively memorise content and remember it again shortly afterwards. In everyday working life, they can access relevant information from memory.

Instructions

After an introductory instruction and a trial task, MEMORY is completed in a time-limited manner. Graphic patterns are specified in a matrix of 3x3 fields, which then have to be reproduced with a click in the order in which they appear. It is possible to skip tasks.

Graphic patterns are specified with first 2, then 3 and finally 4 elements, which are generated randomly. The number of samples to be memorised increases over the course of the test, but is constant for all candidates.

Theoretical background

MEMORY ascertains an aspect of working memory capacity and allows conclusions to be drawn in terms of the ability to store information in the working memory, maintain it there and quickly access it again. Without this capability, it is virtually impossible to handle complex tasks. Memory-related capability is therefore one of the most central foundations for demanding cognitive tasks, such as complex problem solving or knowledge acquisition.

By limiting the test to visual task material, MEMORY avoids the classic problem of memory tests, where the measurement is diluted by unwanted notes or screenshots.
