Instructions

After an initial instruction and a trial task, the SEQUENCE test is completed in a time-limited manner, in three cycles with increasing difficulty. The evaluation is done in right/wrong format.

Rows of eight numbers are shown, which are to be clicked in ascending order. Errors are reported back immediately; completion of one task automatically leads to the next item.

Theoretical background

In the Berlin Intelligence Structure Model according to Jäger, numerical fluency is classified in terms of numerical processing speed. Mathematical agility describes the basic ability to process numbers quickly and correctly. This ability is important in professions where people have to work a lot with numbers, dimensions, and tables and analyse them quickly. It is not about mathematical skills, but about an intuitive understanding of numbers, their amount and, as a result, their contextual correctness. This ability prevents errors, e.g. in the issuance of funds, the administration of medication, or the transfer of measurements.

SEQUENCE is particularly relevant for professional success in the service sector as well as in the health and nursing industry, but also for craftsmanship, laboratory technology or manufacturing professions.
