Work samples are probably the oldest diagnostic method for selecting candidates – and are among the best selection procedures for practical occupations in industry, trade and crafts. They provide reliable forecasts of performance in the workplace and simulate future tasks in the most realistic way possible.

Work samples as diagnostic procedures for measuring aptitude have been shown to be among the most valid methods in personnel psychology. And a combination of cognitive tests with work samples of work results is almost the highest validity achieved with two individual processes.

Some recruiters are concerned about having to spend time constructing a working sample. But this can be avoided: We can support you with our technologies for the selection of objects and transform them into real, psychological work samples. The procedure is fully standardised which ensures fairness and makes it an ideal predictor of career success. Effective rating scales and the automatic evaluation of results ensure that you find the right candidate for your company.

OUR SERVICES

The very specific variants of the work samples are realistic job simulations. These may involve technical tasks such as actual work on car bodies, commercial or sales negotiations or project planning.

You also have the option of using our hybrid procedures which can be conducted online and also depict real job situations. They combine the advantages of an intelligence test with those of a work sample. With hybrid work samples such as PRO-IT, you can simulate basic IT skills such as an understanding of syntax and with POTENTIAL you can simulate typical administrative tasks from the fields of HR or Controlling. Our two special versions PRODUCTION and PROFFICE are also available for finding staff in technical and commercial jobs.

ANALOGUE WORK SAMPLES

In addition to the online procedures, you will also find a number of analogue work samples in our portfolio.

WIRE-BENDING TASK

For a very general assessment of manual and motor skills, we provide the work sample WIRE-BENDING TASK: Candidates bend two- and three-dimensional models made of wire in accordance with a standard sample. Basic skills such as the estimation of distances and angles, material handling and hand-eye coordination are measured – which are relevant for many technical jobs. The motivation and conscientiousness of the applicants are also analysed here. The evaluation is carried out using a template so that all applicants have the same evaluation basis. It has been shown that this type of task can also help the participants to open up in conversational situations.

SCREWING TASK

The work sample SCREWMASTER measures dexterity and speed. The great advantage of this screwing task is the completely automated analysis. The applicants screw various threads into specific fasteners until the end of the thread touches a contact. Depending on the configuration, this task is repeated several times. At the end, the required processing time is automatically transferred to the system.
